How to flip a coin online
Use this page as the operating manual for Heads or Tails Now: Flip coin, Coin animation, Speak result, auto-flip timer, coin appearance, and Recent flips.
Workflow
- Press Flip coin for a single decision. A Heads or Tails outcome is chosen immediately; animation (if On) presents that outcome without re-rolling.
- Toggle Coin animation Off when you want the fastest reveal. The graphical coin still updates, but without the throw animation delay.
- Enable Speak result and optionally choose Voice on desktop. The browser speaks Heads or Tails when the flip completes. Use Retry voices if the voice list failed to load.
- Enable Auto-flip on timer and set Flip timer (seconds). Flips repeat on the interval until you turn auto-flip off or press Pause while it runs.
- Expand Recent flips in Options to review the last outcomes on this device. Up to 30 recent results stay in local history for casual recounts.
- Hide sidebar on desktop or Hide options on mobile when you only need the stage view. Flip coin remains on the main panel; Show options brings settings back.
Worked examples
- Table tie-breaker: Turn animation On for drama, flip once, and read the live region aloud so everyone hears the same result.
- Accessibility-first choice: Set Coin animation Off, enable Speak result, and flip. Players who cannot see the coin still get Heads or Tails from speech and the live region.
- Classroom tally demo: Enable auto-flip with a 5-second Flip timer, run ten flips, then open Recent flips to compare counts—not a statistics lab, but a quick intuition check.
Before you roll
Agree what Heads and Tails mean before you flip once—re-flipping because someone dislikes the result is a social choice, not a button on this tool.
Open Options with Show options if the sidebar is hidden. Coin animation On/Off, Speak result, and Auto-flip on timer live there.
Pick Coin type and Metal color for readability on a shared screen; they do not affect odds.
If you need only the word result, turn Coin animation Off and rely on the text label plus live region.
If something looks wrong
If Flip coin seems disabled, wait for an in-flight animation to finish before tapping again.
If speech is silent, confirm Speak result is checked and system volume is up; try browser default Voice.
If auto-flip will not stop, uncheck Auto-flip on timer or press Pause on the main controls.
If history looks stale on a shared PC, clear site data for this origin when you need a private recount.
Mobile and keyboard notes
Flip coin is a primary button you can activate with keyboard or touch.
Coin animation On/Off are toggle buttons in Options with aria-pressed state.
The live region announces Heads or Tails without requiring you to watch the coin spin.
Show options on mobile reveals the same settings as the desktop sidebar.
